Early Reading and Music

A one-day (5 accredited hours) professional learning course for K-2 teachers in the areas of English and the Early Reading and music partnership K-2.

The course addresses how teachers can embed musical activities that support early reading acquisition into their practice. Musical skill level is irrelevant for participation for this course.

The course links early reading and musical activities that reinforce English syllabus outcomes by drawing on the theoretical underpinning of early reading teaching, including The Big 6 pillars of effective reading instruction (NRP, 2000; Konza, 2014).

Targeted professional learning

Many schools I speak to want targeted professional learning that addresses their specific strategic goals, identified through local data; as opposed to a generic course that may/ may not address their specific needs. I would be pleased to sit with your professional learning team and assist in the crafting of specific, nuanced professional learning that addresses your school’s specific needs. I’m experienced and qualified to support schools in all areas of English teaching K-6, and would value the opportunity to assist you in achieving your strategic goals, in your school.

  • You are so incredible Lorri! I feel so excited and inspired going back to school. You are so talented in presenting and sharing your passion with us all. I just found the hands on activities, realistic examples that can be shared and taken back to our practice & the reflection/opportunity to use our new learning into our programs was so beneficial and amazing.
